Description:
Responsibilities:
- Monitors supply and demand, data management, plans and prioritizes, expedite purchase orders, ensuring material availability.
- Source, select and negotiate for the best purchase package in terms of quality, price, terms, deliveries, and services with suppliers and Sub-contractors
- Interviews and confers with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation logistics, inventory control management, negotiate prices and delivery terms
- Coordinates as appropriate, quality matters and engineering changes/developments between company activities and suppliers
- Analyzes and ensures order and supply levels are properly maintained for all required materials in order to maintain inventory levels
- Maintains tracking of expected deliveries in order to forecast inventory levels and react by expediting deliveries as required
- Participates in semi-annual physical counts of purchased finished goods
- Participates in monthly raw material physical counts and reconciles/accrues for purchased railcar goods in transit
- Maintains accurate purchasing records, following business operating procedures
- Maintains and collaborates North American corporate procurement guidelines and processes
Required Skills:
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment in a Buyer/Production/Planning/Procurement/Raw Materials role;
- Formal college or university education, preferably with a degree or diploma specializing in Materials Management or Business;
- PMAC designation or actively pursuing designation preferred
- Excellent negotiation skills combined with knowledge of the market place and market trends, domestically and/or globally
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Word, Excel, Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision)
- Clear, concise written and oral communication skills;
- Highly motivated, energetic with a high level of initiative;
- Strong analytical and interpretive skills;
- Extremely detail-oriented and accurate in management purchasing, financial and inventory records
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks;
- Strong time-management and problem-solving skills with the ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines;
- Reacts positively to change; demonstrates flexibility and adaptability;
- Experience with technical procurement is an advantage.
